In this text, the parenting side of Paul comes out as he calls the Thessalonians to live in light of who they are. He gives 17 imperative commands, and while on a bad day it can seem like moralism, what he’s trying to do is help them learn to walk in the Spirit as they allow the Spirit to transform them. May we also be a church that walks in the Spirit and lives in light of who we are.
