Loving people isn’t about telling them what they want to hear; it’s telling them what they need to hear – in a spirit of gentleness. Paul writes tough words of correction to the church in Corinth, not to hurt them, but to help them. As part of a church family, we shouldn’t strive for other people to like us, but be willing to have them hate us for speaking the truth in love. We should expect to be held accountable by others, as well as hold others accountable to what Scripture says, willing to both speak the truth and accept the truth when it is spoken to us.
