What does it mean to follow Christ? And what is the cost? The core of the spiritual life and the key to authentic spiritual formation is the heart. Very few people have considered the cost of intentionally following Jesus and the implications on our preferences, priorities, and affections. Jesus clearly communicates what it takes to follow Him: you must forsake everything that would compete for your affections and keep Him first in your life. You must deny yourself and take up your cross to follow Him. Only when your heart is submitted to Him will you understand the true cost of following Jesus Christ.
