Another pattern we recognize in the lives of the kings is the lack of accountable relationships. Overall, they tended to reign in isolation or not to listen to the sound wisdom that was given to them. But good accountable friendships shape us, speak into our lives, help us grow, bring joy and point us to God. The kings also had a lack of submission to the Lord, yet the Spirit of God is the one who convicts us and points us toward repentance. We need to learn to listen to the Holy Spirit who is sealed within every believer, because He is the one who guides us and prompts us toward godliness.
