As we were preparing to leave for our trip, a few of us were packing our bags. Each of us packed just the essentials. As we were counting up the bags we realized that we had an extra duffel bag that was empty. We immediately thought " kids clothes" and dashed to Walmart to go on a whirlwind shopping spree.
We went up and down the kids clothes aisles filling our cart. Down one aisle we ran into a man and his middle school aged sons who saw our cart runneth over with clothes. He approached us and commented, "that is some major shopping you are doing there!" We told him about our exposure trip and what we had been called to do in Thailand. His family attends Clovis HIll Church and after hearing about our willingness to go where the Lord had called us to serve, he reached in his pocket and slipped us a $100 bill. Then he asked his young son to pray for our team. Although our time was brief, the young man knew what was needed in prayer. He prayed for our team, the staff at ITDP, and the Karen people of the village we'll be serving. It was a beautiful and intentional prayer out of the heart of a very intuitive 7th grader.
Even before we boarded our flight, the Lord was providing exactly what we needed, when we needed it. The first of what promises to be many "God " moments that I'm sure we'll encounter on our trip.
