These first few days have been a whirlwind! We started our trip off by driving down to Los Angeles early on Sunday, catching a Hillsong LA church service and dinner. We started our trek down to Costa Rica with a brutal 1:30am flight and arrived red-eyed and excited on Monday morning. After that we had a short drive to Desamparados (a small district in San Jose) where our home base is located.
As soon as we got to our home base, we were sent off to our host families, who are feeding and housing us for the next two weeks. Dustin and I were placed with a sweet lady named Felicia and her son Steven. She is such a gracious host and is feeding us like kings! After hearing from the rest of the team, it seems like everyone has really warm and sweet families as hosts. The people here really fit that description.
Today we trained mostly at our home base. We did a lot of team building exercises and got a broad overview of the country and its people. We also got to take a walk to the central city park and experience a delicious Costa Rican dessert called Copo. All I can say is that it is DELICIOUS. Google it! We are all expectant as tomorrow we go out to our sites. Please keep us in your prayers as we experience new challenges tomorrow and that God would be evident in us!
