Well we are down to the final day before we embark on our adventure to London! Here is a description of what our team will be focused on:
When we arrive on Sunday we are joining Greater Europe Mission (GEM), who has partnered with local churches and put on a giant outreach event during the duration of the Olympics. The intent for the event is for locals living in the area to attend the activities going on, hear about Jesus, and get connected to a local church. There are many different areas where our team can serve and where Jesus will be able to be taught and talked about. There are events and activities for every age and season of life from babies to elderly to son/father activities. Personally, I have been so encouraged when learning about the vision and mission of GEM. They have a deep passion for the Gospel and seeing the people of London come to Christ. They are using every opportunity as a chance to point someone to Christ! They see the Olympics as an amazing and unique chance to share the Gospel to so many people at once. We are so excited to join them!
Here are just some of the places we will be serving the 10 days we will be there...
- Kid's programs (like Vacation bible School. 700 kids were there last week alone!)
- Registration
- Youth sports camps
- Music ministry for kids, parents, and Senior homes
- Spending time in Senior homes and the residents there
- Serving and spending time with the parents of the children involved and building relationships with them.
- Spending time in the Sports Pub they have created for the evening Olympic events. Our role will be to engage with the locals and build relationships.
- And many more roles
What you can be praying for...
1) That we would be Spirit led and bold in our conversations. We will be spending a lot of time with people who may have never set foot inside a church or have a bad taste in their mouth when it comes to the things of God. We want to not only share who Christ is in our lives, but we want to get to know them as well. We want them to feel heard, known, and loved by the body of Christ.
2) That we will be spending our own time with the Lord and his Word daily so what we share with others will be an overflow of what the Lord is doing in our hearts. The Lord could have specific things he wants us to learn personally while we are over there and we don't want to forget that the most important relationship we have is our relationship with Him. If we aren't making that the priority, we are missing the point! The best evangelism tool is our own personal story of God saving our souls and making our lives new in Him. We want to be able to share that genuinely from our hearts (if given the opportunity).
Thank you so much for praying! We are excited to see what the Lord will do while we are there. Keep checking back into the missions blog for updates from the Exposure Trip. We will post as often as we can!
Thanks for praying for our team!
