Hello friends and family! We are at the tail end of our trip, and it is a little bit surreal! It has been a whirlwind of an experience, but we are so thankful to have seen God so much on this trip. Daily we are reminded of why we chose to serve and of the fact that love is more powerful than anything else. For a lot of us, God has revealed that while it is wonderful to serve people of other nations, there is a massive need for servants in Fresno. Initially, we may not have had a clear understanding of why we were placed at specific ministry sites, but this week the Lord has provided all of those answers. It has been such a blessing to experience that personally and see those purposes realized in others.
Last night we debriefed with Jeff, the SI director, and chatted about how to proceed with everything we have experienced. It was very emotional for a lot of us because leaving is bittersweet. Scott is now curious as to why the girls cry so much on a daily basis. He’s convinced a better understanding of girls crying will provide insight into the female mind. (ha!) Joking aside, we discussed at length how we would like to be more intentional and put aside distractions at home. We realize this will be difficult, but putting Christ at the center of all that we do is critical. When talking about what we will miss most, we all mentioned that it will be difficult not to live in this community of believers we have become so close to. Starting the day with devos and worship was also a highlight of the trip for all of us. Today was our last day at our ministry sites, and our focus was on serving and making sure we said “good” good-byes. Many of us received hugs from people that were slow to warm up to us and it was truly touching. Tonight will be the banquet, and there is no doubt it will be full of emotion-joyful and sad. We will be going to a waterfall and a zoo tomorrow where we will have an American buffet for lunch, yay! I think we are all ready to sleep in our own beds, but we have all fallen in love with this beautiful country. Please continue to pray for us and specifically for safe travels on our way to Fresno.
Hasta luego!
